A Look Back at CERT Community Events in Q1

A Look Back at CERT Community Events in Q1

Uncategorized

Over the past few months, we’ve had the privilege of coming together with friends, creatives, and change-makers for a series of community-driven events, all in support of an deserving initiative; building a community garden at Turning Point’s recovery centre.

Before we dive into the highlights, it’s important to spotlight the mission. Turning Point’s recovery centre supports individuals on the path to mental health and addiction recovery. We aim to help Turning Point’s vision to create a welcoming garden space that offers therapy through nature, encourages mindfulness, and provides a place for growth, both for plants and people.

Each event has not only been an opportunity to connect but also a step forward in creating a lasting, healing space for those on their recovery journeys. Here’s a look back at what we achieved together and the impact it’s already making.

Wellbeing and Networking: MPM x CERT

CERT x Motion Project Management  Networking & Wellbeing Event gave us a safe space to connect, recharge, and talk openly about mental health and professional growth. Events like these are the seeds of real change, they encourage collaboration and compassion especially in the property industry.

Team Hike: Walking the Walk

We laced up our boots and hit the trails for a team hike. This wasn’t just about physical wellbeing, but about grounding ourselves in nature, strengthening bonds, and opening up conversations. Nature has a way of lowering walls, and this simple yet powerful day of walking and talking laid the foundation for deeper team connections.

Unbinding: A Fashion Photography Exhibition

A couple of young local artists worked together to showcase the beauty of fashion, photography and artistic practice. Embracing the cutting room floor, ‘Unbinding’ adds vulnerability to the idea of the image; revealing the raw edges often invisible to the viewer, the process of the hard work during creation.

Emerging Beats: Music and Mental Health Panel

At Emerging Beats, we explored how music can be a transformative tool for mental health. The panel brought together artists, producers, and mental health advocates who shared raw stories about creativity, coping, and community. The insights and solidarity sparked during this event reminded us of the therapeutic role music plays with nature blending into healing experiences. This event was in collaboration with Ramona, a hospitality establishment in New Cross.

The Impact: More Than Just Events

What started as gatherings and conversations has already started to blossom into tangible support for Turning Point. Funds raised, partnerships formed, and volunteer hands pledged are all shaping a stronger community. These events have shown the power of collective action in creating spaces that foster healing, creativity, and connection.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up, shared their stories, and contributed their energy. The charity initiative is proof that when a community comes together, growth is inevitable.

The journey doesn’t stop here. We can’t wait to invite even more of you into this evolving project. Whether you join us for a hike, a panel talk, or an art session, your presence matters.

Together, we’re growing something beautiful. You can still donate to Turning Point on our GoFundMe page.
