Community living in one of Manchester’s most exciting emerging districts.
Located in Ardwick, Manchester, an up-and-coming area primed for redevelopment, SONA occupies a dominating position opposite the former iconic art deco Apollo cinema.
An opportunity arose in 2021 for us to step in to save the SONA site following an unfortunate start-stop to the development; due to the prior owners’ contractors hitting financial difficulties. Following our acquisition from a private consortium of investors we appointed a new contractor, RECOM, in October 2021, and following a lengthy process of due diligence we are delighted that the SONA development is back on track and primed for completion in Winter 2022.

Manchester is the youngest city in the UK, attracting 18-35 year olds and retaining 43% of graduates. This young professional market expects a connected lifestyle, one with an abundance of amenities and opportunities to connect.
SONA will introduce a unique way of living to this up-and-coming location; community living, opening up immediate access to a wealth of facilities on the tenants’ doorstep in which to meet like-minded people with shared interests and experiences.
With all-inclusive bills and WiFi, SONA offers tenants an affordable way of living that removes the hassle of dealing with multiple utility providers, all whilst remaining connected to city life. Career opportunities, culture and nightlife are all within a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute bus journey from the scheme.
SONA is situated on Brunswick Street, within the Ardwick Ward of Manchester. The area has been compared to the New York hipster hotspot, Williamsburg (MEN) by Scott Shashua, founder of urban clothing brand The Couture Club, who said the area provided “immediate inspiration for photoshoots”.
With its laid-back vibe, local coffee and food shops have been popping up to take advantage of the increasing professional population, with businesses choosing to relocate to Ardwick from the city centre for affordable rents and beautiful buildings. Now workers can sip fresh coffee at Scandinavian-style coffee shop, Wayne’s on Polygon Street, and order food on Just lunch – a food delivery service in the area.
SONA is in close proximity to many educational institutions. The University of Manchester, Manchester University Hospital and Modern Language Centre are all within a mile radius. Students or young professionals can reach them by a short walk or by bus that’s just a one minute walk away from the development.
Ardwick Green park, Manchester’s first public park, is located across the road from the scheme and has attracted the attention of investors and developers. With a new focus on the area, the community around the 3-acre green has grown dramatically.
Ardwick is the subject of a major regeneration plan, a key component of which is affordable housing. SONA will meet the demand for high quality housing that is also close to the city, with its contemporary finishes and all-inclusive rents, all without compromising on space, amenities and a connected lifestyle.
