We have submitted a planning application for a 99-unit BTR scheme in New Cross, backed by the family office of local entrepreneur Oliver Cookson.

The site of Cross Keys, now a disused car park, was first developed in the early-19th century, becoming the Royal Lancastrian School, and is located alongside Peelers Yard, our 81 apartment development on the historic 1800s police station site on Goulden Street. Both projects are backed by the MyProtein founder, and will be operated by our property management team upon completion of the development.

The site located on Cross Keys Street, presents a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and townhouses, some with terraces. The scheme will include a landscaped courtyard, communal lounge and rooftop garden for the residents to enjoy.

Howard Lord, our Managing Director comments: “We’re pleased to be able to bring forward this project, being our second in the New Cross neighbourhood and our second with Oliver and his family office team. This neighbourhood is a great example of how co-ordinated urban regeneration can transform areas, with most of New Cross being car parks or disused properties only a few years ago. We believe in the location and the continued strength of the  residential market in Manchester and are looking forward to bringing this scheme forwards”.

Oliver Cookson said: “I’m thrilled to be partnering with CERT to bring two exceptional developments to life in my hometown of Manchester. As someone born at Withington Hospital, just five miles away from the site, it’s a deeply personal experience to be investing in the local community that has shaped me. I’m excited to see the positive impact these developments will have on the neighbourhood. These projects will not only provide high-quality housing in a prime location, but also support the thriving community of independent businesses in the area. As the founder of Verve, a greens powder business, I’m passionate about creating healthy and sustainable living spaces that benefit both people and the planet. I’m proud to be giving back to the community that has given me so much, and I’m looking forward to seeing the benefits these developments will bring to the local community.”

Tim Groom Architects are the scheme architect, ensuring synergies with Peelers Yard where TGA are also the architects, whilst the wider project team includes: We Are Incognito for interior design, Layer.studio as the landscape architect, Enabl advising on the planning consultancy and acting as the quantity surveyor, Civic Engineers are the structural engineers, and Novo as the M&E engineer for the scheme.

Cross Keys follows hot on the heels of SONA, our first BTR scheme in Ardwick.
