Located within Ancoats conservation area, a three storey brick building dating back to 1870 stood on the Popworks site and was formally ground office space and upstairs accommodation. The original building was extended by two storeys whilst a five storey new build element was constructed to the east creating in total 28 unique apartments. the development also hosts 6 car parking spaces, a cycle store, bin store and two ground commercial units.
During development we retained the original facade, with the existing brick and stonework repaired and repointed. The existing UPVC windows were removed and replaced with dark bronze coloured aluminium frames with arched heads. At ground we reinstated the traditional shopfront comprising hardwood timber.
The internal communal areas are now now decorated with stunning bespoke copper lighting whilst the bannisters throughout are copper piping with gold featuring. Striking artwork across the right wall greets you on entrance, a nod to both the site name and pop culture of Ancoats and the Northern Quarter.
